2024 Mini Countryman EV Electric Revealed

Introducing the all-new electric Mini Countryman – a groundbreaking addition that not only marks the British marque’s first German-made model but also takes the spotlight as the largest contender in their revamped lineup.

Spanning a considerable 174.5 inches in length, 72.5 inches in width, and 65.1 inches in height, this latest iteration of the Countryman is set to make its grand debut alongside the Mini Cooper EV at the upcoming IAA Munich event.

Under the hood, the electrified third-generation crossover boasts enhanced proportions, standing 5 inches longer and 2 inches taller than its predecessor. It arrives in two power variants: the Countryman E and the Countryman SE ALL4.

Powering the Countryman E is a front-mounted electric motor, delivering a remarkable 201 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. With a WLTP-rated range of 287 miles, it’s primed to impress. Meanwhile, the Countryman SE ALL4 takes it up a notch, embracing a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup, culminating in a combined output of 308 horsepower and 364 pound-feet of torque, and an extended range of 269 miles.

While exact battery capacities remain undisclosed, tantalizing hints point to a 54-kilowatt-hour pack for the Countryman E and a 64-kWh pack for the Countryman SE ALL4. Charging efficiency takes a front seat, with both models accommodating up to 22 kW of AC power and an impressive 130 kW at a DC fast charger.

Performance enthusiasts will revel in the Countryman’s agility. The base model accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in a brisk 8.6 seconds, reaching a top speed of 105 mph. On the other hand, the more robust version propels from 0 to 62 mph in a mere 5.6 seconds, topping out at 111 mph.

Stylistically, the new-gen crossover captures attention with an octagonal grille housing a radar sensor for Level 2 driving assistance. A set of configurable LED daytime running lights adds flair. Notably, the side profile flaunts a redesigned C-pillar, complemented by up-to-20-inch rims, while the rear boasts sleek flush tail lights.

Inside, the revamped interior showcases a curved dashboard adorned with textile surfaces on select trims. A centerpiece 9.44-inch OLED screen displays key information, from travel speed to battery status. Operating System 9 takes the reins, with voice commands through “Hey Mini” or the Mini Intelligent Personal Assistant.

This remarkable offering seats five, with adjustable rear seats to boost legroom or trunk space. Cargo volume varies from 460 liters to an expansive 1,450 liters when the rear seats fold. Inclusively, an optional retractable electric trailer is available, capable of towing up to 2,645 pounds.

Choose from four trim levels – Essential, Classic, Favoured, and JCW – each with distinct features to cater to various preferences. Production commences later this year, aligning with the debut of the Chinese-built Mini Cooper EV. And looking ahead, the forthcoming Aceman crossover promises to join this dynamic lineup in April 2024.
