2024 Mercedes AMG GLC63 S E Performance and GLC43 Revealed In Coupe Trim

For those seeking a sporty twist in their SUV experience, Mercedes-Benz has answered the call. Now, they’ve unveiled the visually pleasing AMG-tweaked GLC twins, presenting the GLC43 and the GLC63 S E Performance in a sleek Coupe format.

Let’s dive into the details. Beneath the stylish exteriors, you’ll discover the same mechanics as the standard AMG GLC SUVs introduced in July. In the case of the GLC63 S E Performance, this means a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that’s quite the overachiever, generating 469 horsepower on its own. Plus, it gets an additional 201 hp from a single electric motor, resulting in a combined output of a peak 671 hp and a whopping 752 pound-feet of torque. It’s worth noting that this peak power is only accessible for a brief 10-second burst.

The GLC43 also brings a hybrid kick, though in a milder form. Mercedes-Benz equips it with the same turbocharged four-pot engine, tweaked to produce 416 hp. It also benefits from a small electric motor that can deliver an extra 13 hp when needed. Both of these models transfer their power to all four wheels through Mercedes’ AMG Speedshift nine-speed transmission. They also feature rear-axle steering and the AMG Ride Control suspension as part of their standard equipment.

Now, let’s talk performance. Giving these models a sportier coupe silhouette doesn’t alter their performance figures. The GLC43, according to Mercedes-AMG, can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds and tops out at an electronically limited 155 mph. Meanwhile, the GLC63 S E Performance achieves the same 0-60 mph run in a mere 3.4 seconds, and its speed isn’t restricted until it hits 171 mph. Suspension options, performance brakes, and the interior layout with the familiar MBUX system all remain consistent.

However, what does differ is the interior space. In the GLC63 S E Performance, you’ll find 13.8 cubic feet of cargo room with the rear seats up, expanding to 47.1 cubic feet when folded down. The GLC43 offers slightly more space, with 19.2 and 52.6 cubic feet, respectively. Admittedly, this is a slight reduction compared to the SUV versions, but it’s the price you pay for that sleek style.

Now, let’s talk pricing and availability. Mercedes-Benz has not yet disclosed the pricing for these new coupe-SUVs, nor have they provided a specific release date. What we do know is that Mercedes-AMG designates the GLC43 as a 2024 model, while the GLC63 S E Performance is set for 2025.
