2024 BMW M3 CS Revealed

The 2024 BMW M3 CS is a high-performance variant of the standard M3, with a number of design tweaks and performance enhancements that set it apart from the base model. Visually, the M3 CS shares many similarities with the CSL model, including exposed carbon fiber on the splitter, roof, hood, air intakes, rear spoiler, and mirror caps, as well as black side skirts and unique color options. Additionally, the M3 CS features the CSL’s M4 GT3-inspired frameless kidney grilles, which improve the appearance of the front end compared to the standard car.

Under the hood, the M3 CS is powered by the same 3.0-liter S58 engine found in the CSL, which produces 40 more horsepower than the standard M3 Competition, thanks to increased boost pressure and tuning. Torque remains unchanged at 479 lb-ft, and power is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, an M-tuned xDrive all-wheel-drive system, and an electronically controlled limited-slip differential in the rear. BMW claims a 0-60 time of 3.2 seconds for the M3 CS, which is nearly half a second quicker than the M4 CSL. The top speed is electronically limited to 188 mph.

The M3 CS also features a number of changes under the skin to give it a unique driving experience. The camber settings, dampers, steering, braking system, and anti-roll bars have been retuned specifically for this application, while stiffer engine mounts have been added to withstand the demands of constant track work. The M3 CS can be optioned with staggered alloy wheels measuring 19 inches in the front and 20 inches in the rear, which can be finished in gold bronze or matte black. The wheels can be equipped with standard high-performance summer tires or Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 track rubber at no extra cost, depending on the buyer’s preference. Carbon-ceramic brakes are also available as an option.

Inside, the M3 CS features a number of changes similar to those found in the CSL, including red accents throughout the dash, trim, and paddle shifters, as well as a center console delete to save weight. The M3 CS also comes standard with adjustable carbon-fiber bucket seats, which include a heating element and an illuminated “CS” badge. The CS also has a bench seat in the back, unlike the CSL which deleted it to save weight.

The BMW M3 CS will be available starting at $119,695, including a $995 destination fee, which is a significant increase over the standard All Wheel Drive M3 Competition. Production of US-bound cars will begin in March 2023.
