2023 Peugeot 408 GT Hybrid 225 e-EAT8

French automobile manufacturer, Peugeot, has recently announced that only a minuscule amount of 50 units of the initial 408 model – referred to as the First Edition – will be introduced to the UK market. These vehicles will possess plug-in hybrid capabilities, in addition to an upgraded specification based on the mainstream GT trim, and will be priced slightly over £43,000.

As the inaugural models of Peugeot’s latest coupe-crossover to arrive in the UK, the 408 has already been uncovered, alongside its three-layered trim structure, and is scheduled to make its public debut at the upcoming Paris Motor Show. However, the new First Edition iteration intends to surpass the range-topping GT model, exclusively featuring Peugeot’s ‘225’ plug-in hybrid system, which unites a 1.6-litre petrol engine and an electric motor that both power the front wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Furthermore, the new vehicle presents consumers with two distinct plug-in hybrid powertrain options – a 178 bhp 1.6 variant and the 222 bhp system found in the First Edition model. Additionally, a 1.2-litre petrol engine, boasting 128 bhp, is also accessible to potential buyers. An electric variation, identified as the ‘e-408’ model, is expected to arrive later in 2023.
