2023 Honda CR-V Euro spec Revealed

In the heart of Offenbach, Germany, Honda unfurls the curtain to reveal the sixth iteration of its acclaimed CR-V, a grand unveiling aimed squarely at the European market. The revamped SUV bears a striking resemblance to its transatlantic cousin, with external similarities abounding. However, beneath the polished surface lies a world of difference, a mechanical divergence that we’ll delve into momentarily. But first, allow us to take you on a tour of the aesthetic flourishes adorning its exterior and interior.

Maintaining the familiar silhouette that fans have come to cherish, the newly minted CR-V sports a revamped façade. It’s an audacious new look defined by a prominent grille flanked by two svelte headlights. Interestingly, the pair of powertrains destined for European roads will each flaunt a unique grille design. On the tail end, the evolution from the previous generation CR-V is a tad more subtle, with the taillights retaining their fundamental form but incorporating novel internal graphics.

The CR-V’s metamorphosis extends beyond mere aesthetics, as it now boasts greater dimensions across the board. For this 2023 model year, the crossover struts its stuff as a wider, longer, and taller vehicle, thereby amplifying the space available for passengers. Specifically, a wheelbase extended by 1.6 inches translates into an extra 0.6 inches of rear legroom and up to an 18 percent increase in luggage capacity, depending on the chosen configuration.

Honda exudes a palpable sense of pride about the enhancements lavished upon the interior of the new CR-V. Not only does it present a more opulent ambiance than its predecessor, but it also offers improved visibility, courtesy of lowered front corner points and a flattened hood. The North American model boasts a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine as the base option. However, such a purely combustion-driven powertrain isn’t offered on the European scene. Instead, the European CR-V hybrid relies on a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle gas engine bolstered by dual electric motors. A new addition to the European lineup is a plug-in variant that melds the same gas engine and electric motors with a more capacious battery pack. Honda claims that this configuration can cover up to 51 miles (82 kilometers) solely on electric power, though no further details are provided. However, the company does divulge that the battery can regain full charge within a mere 2.5 hours.
