Committed to responding to this need, Toyota introduced the New Fortuner as an ever-better car which is now equipped with a choice of a new diesel engine coded 1GD-FTV 2,755 cc VNT Intercooler which produces more power up to 203.9 PS at 3,000 – 4,000 rpm and 50 torque. 9 Kgm at 1,600 – 2,800 rpm. While the 2GD-FTV 2,393 cc 4-cylinder VNT Intercooler engine is powered by 149.6 PS at 3,400 rpm and 40.8 Kgm of torque at 1,600 – 2,000 rpm is still utilized by other Fortuner types.
With 36% more power output and around 25% higher torque, the 1GD engine recorded a faster 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 11.9 seconds, while the 2GD engine was 14 seconds. Likewise, when accelerating at a speed of 60 – 80 km/h, the 1GD engine recorded a faster time of only 2.8 seconds, while the 2GD engine was 3.7 seconds.
