2024 Porsche 911 Cabriolet 992.2 Exhaust Sound

The convertible 911 isn’t due for a complete overhaul and will adhere to its fundamental design ethos for this refreshed iteration. We have previously encountered this prototype on numerous occasions, and it appears that Porsche is employing it for high-speed testing purposes in advance of the vehicle’s forthcoming public unveiling later this year. The extent of the camouflage is meager, as the automaker has decided to eliminate some of the black tape. The front fascia now features newly contoured air intakes with dynamic elements. The rear section, on the other hand, conceals the area around the exhaust outlets and portions of the bumper, indicating possible exterior modifications to the back of the vehicle.

The exhaust finishers on this car suggest the potential for a significant transformation beneath the hood. The configuration is almost identical to that of the Porsche 718 Cayman GTSl, which utilizes a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine. Rumors abound that Porsche executives are eager to reintroduce a naturally aspirated flat-six engine into the lineup, and this prototype could very well be equipped with a 4.0-liter NA powerplant nestled behind the seats.

Regarding the prototype’s performance on the Nurburgring, we lack precise performance data. Nevertheless, from the video footage, it appears that this 911 Cabrio trial vehicle is being pushed to the brink of its limits. The vehicle remains poised around the corners, with little evidence of body roll – an outcome that is characteristic of Porsche 911 sports cars.

When can we expect the new sports car to hit the market? Although we do not have a firm release date, we would venture to guess that the vehicle will be unveiled in the second half of the year. Porsche has been testing 911 Cabrio prototypes for many months now, and we are eagerly anticipating whether the convertible 911 will receive a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated engine.
