The Mullen Five RS, unveiled at CES 2024, is a groundbreaking electric crossover that is set to redefine performance standards in the electric vehicle market. Equipped with a formidable powertrain, it boasts over 1,000 horsepower, enabling it to rocket from 0 to 60 mph in under two seconds, with a top speed surpassing 200 mph. This impressive acceleration is facilitated by a dual electric motor system and a two-speed transmission akin to the Porsche Taycan, highlighting Mullen’s commitment to blending high performance with electric efficiency.

In terms of energy storage and charging, the Five RS features a 100 kWh battery pack and utilizes an 800-volt architecture. Remarkably, it can charge up to 80% in just 21 minutes using a DC fast-charger. However, this enhanced performance results in a slightly reduced range of around 300 miles, a modest trade-off for its speed and power capabilities.

Braking and handling are key aspects of the Five RS’s design. The vehicle is outfitted with top-tier Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, ensuring rapid and safe deceleration from high speeds. The braking system comprises 15.7-inch front rotors with six-piston calipers and 14.6-inch rear rotors with four-piston calipers, offering stopping distances of less than 110 feet from 60 mph. The interior of the Mullen Five RS is a fusion of luxury and technology. It features orange ambient lighting, which adds a sporty flair, and is furnished with sport seats upholstered in Nubuck leather and Alcantara. The addition of carbon fiber door inserts and large screens for the gauges and infotainment system exude elegance and modernity. A standout feature is the AI personal assistant “Persona,” equipped with advanced facial recognition, enhancing the driving experience with personalized settings and interactions.

Dimension-wise, the Mullen Five RS measures 193 inches in length with a wheelbase of 116 inches. It offers seating for four passengers and a storage capacity of 25.6 cubic feet behind the rear seats, expandable to 62.4 cubic feet in total. This makes it slightly smaller in terms of passenger and cargo capacity compared to some of its competitors, such as the Tesla Model X.

The pricing of the Mullen Five RS has not been officially announced, but it is expected to exceed the $55,000 starting price of the standard Mullen Five. The company plans to commence deliveries in 2025, and interested customers can place a $500 refundable deposit to reserve one. This vehicle, with its blend of luxurious design, cutting-edge technology, and unparalleled performance, is poised to make a significant impact in the luxury electric vehicle segment.
