New 2024 Mercedes AMG GLB 35 4MATIC

The 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLB35 has undergone a transformative change in its exterior, with the latest facelift comprising of an updated front bumper, headlights, taillights, and an AMG emblem located on its hood. Moreover, the updates aren’t only superficial, as the GLB35’s powertrain is now enhanced by the integration of a 48-volt hybrid-assist system. In addition, the latest version boasts fresh 19- and 20-inch wheels along with a redesigned steering wheel.

The GLB35 is indeed well-appointed, yet to elevate its luxuriousness, we suggest opting for the Premium package, which offers a suite of top-notch features like power-folding exterior mirrors, passive keyless entry, and a hands-free power liftgate.

Under the hood, the GLB35 comes fitted with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers an impressive 302 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. The power is transmitted to all four wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, while the car’s 48-volt hybrid-assist system, in the form of a belt-driven starter-generator, enhances the stop-start function. Our test drive indicates that the GLB35 is a swift performer, achieving 0-60 mph in a brisk 4.9 seconds. Its handling is agile and playful, but its stiff ride compromises the driving experience. However, a higher-powered GLB45 version, equipped with a 382-horsepower version of the same engine, is anticipated to be introduced soon, akin to the revamped CLA45 sedan.

The GLB35’s fuel economy has not yet been rated by the EPA for 2024, but the previous year’s non-hybrid AMG version received 21 mpg city and 26 mpg highway.

It’s hard to believe, but the GLB-class’s compact body houses three rows of seating, although it’s not ideal for the unlucky passenger who gets relegated to the wayback. The first two rows are designed for adult passengers, while the AMG GLB-class stands out from its Benz-branded counterpart due to its flat-bottomed steering wheel and microfiber-and-leather upholstery.

The reconfigurable digital gauge display blends seamlessly with the large wide-screen infotainment system behind a single glass panel. Mercedes-Benz’s new infotainment software now enables voice recognition, touchpad, and gesture-controlled interactions with the system. An onboard Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto come standard, with navigation being an optional extra.
