The BMW Group has partnered with gaming platform AirConsole to introduce in-car gaming for the first time in the new BMW 5 Series. This feature allows drivers and passengers to play casual games while the car is stationary, making it an ideal option for passing time during vehicle charging periods. The gaming system is easy to use, with a smartphone serving as the controller and the BMW Curved Display acting as the gaming screen. The gaming setup is activated by scanning a QR code on the Curved Display. The selection of available games, which will be continually expanded, ranges from racing and quiz games to simulation and strategy games.
In celebration of the launch, BMW is unveiling a specially designed BMW i5 with a unique gaming look. The car’s design pays tribute to the 8-bit era of video games and incorporates elements from various games available on the AirConsole platform. The design also features motifs of video game controllers, reflecting the gaming system where the smartphone acts as the controller. The AirConsole app will be progressively offered in other BMW vehicles following its debut in the new BMW 5 Series.
