MINI Countryman production at BMW Group Plant Leipzig Germany

The initiation of the MINI Countryman’s production at BMW Group Plant Leipzig signals several significant firsts and milestones. For the first time, a MINI model is being manufactured in Germany, sharing the production line with the BMW 1 Series and 2 Series. This achievement is made feasible thanks to the plant’s adaptable structures and progressive development. In the past half-decade, BMW Group has poured €700 million into preparing the Leipzig plant for handling higher vehicle production volumes and meeting the unique needs of the MINI. By the close of 2024, the production workforce is expected to grow by more than 900 members. Additionally, the new MINI Countryman is spearheading innovations in eco-friendly production methods.

Milan Nedeljković, a member of the board responsible for production, elaborates on this development: “With the commencement of MINI Countryman production here in Leipzig, we’re integrating multibrand operations into our pliable production system. Plant Leipzig is also showcasing several key advancements in minimizing resource usage during production, underlining the effective implementation of our overarching strategy, the BMW iFACTORY.”
