Ford’s grand surprise at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed comes in the form of an intriguing addition to the Mustang family, aptly named the Mustang Mach-E Rally. This new variant signifies a groundbreaking moment, as it is the first time in nearly sixty years that the revered Mustang moniker has ventured into the world of rallying.

Crafted to conquer terrains that Mustangs have never treaded before – those junctures where the smooth asphalt surrenders to untamed dirt paths – the Mustang Mach-E Rally proudly stands as Ford’s maiden venture into the realm of rally-inspired electric SUVs.

For now, Ford has remained tight-lipped about the specifics of this vehicle. However, they have tantalized us with a series of photographs showcasing the EV adorned in a bespoke full-body wrap adorned with eye-catching “Mach-E Rally” decals gracefully adorning its sides.

Although Ford has not disclosed the exact powertrain details, we can speculate that if the Mach-E Rally follows in the footsteps of its stylistically akin sibling, the Mach-E GT, it may feature a dual-motor setup boasting an impressive output of 480 horsepower (equivalent to 358 kilowatts) and a mighty torque of 600 pound-feet (equivalent to 813 Newton-meters). In the Mach-E GT, these numbers enable a jaw-dropping acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 3.8 seconds.

Commencing today, the rally-flavored electric SUV will embark on an ascent of the illustrious Goodwood hill, piloted by none other than the accomplished former World Rally champion and the current M-Sport Ford Puma Hybrid Rally driver, Ott Tänak. This endeavor offers enthusiasts and curious spectators an invaluable opportunity to closely examine the Mustang Mach-E Rally, witnessing its prowess in action – albeit confined to the realm of tarmac.

Ford has announced that interested individuals will be able to place their orders for the Mustang Mach-E Rally starting in the upcoming autumn season.
