Fastest Speed in Reverse Guinness World Records By Rimac Nevera

In the year 1967, the Lamborghini Miura claimed the title of the fastest production car globally, thanks to its potent V12 engine that allowed it to break the 170mph barrier. Fast forward to the present day, and we find the Rimac Nevera achieving a similar feat, albeit in a rather unconventional manner – by going backward.

This remarkable achievement was witnessed by representatives from Guinness World Records and substantiated using data collected by Dewesoft. The Rimac Nevera has now officially secured the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS accolade for achieving the highest speed in reverse. The record-setting event took place at the Automotive Testing Papenburg facility in Germany, the very same location where the Nevera had previously shattered over 20 acceleration and braking records in a single day. It was also where the car achieved its record-breaking top speed of 256mph (412km/h). Dressed in the distinctive Time Attack Edition livery, which is exclusively available to just 12 fortunate customers worldwide, the Nevera reached an astonishing top speed of 171.34mph (275.74km/h) while moving in reverse.

What sets the Rimac Nevera apart from traditional internal combustion engine cars and even some electric counterparts is its unique drivetrain. Unlike conventional vehicles with multiple gears, the Nevera relies on four individual motors that can propel it both forward and backward. This design results in a constant and relentless surge of acceleration, whether starting from a standstill or moving in reverse. It’s the same powertrain that enables the Nevera to go from 0 to 100mph in a mere 3.21 seconds or from 0 to 200mph in just under 11 seconds, regardless of the direction it’s moving in.
