Ducati made a significant impression at EICMA 2023 with an array of offerings that highlighted their commitment to innovation, performance, and adventure. They showcased the Panigale V4 R, which, ridden by Alvaro Bautista, won the World Superbike championship, and the Desmosedici GP, which saw Pecco Bagnaia in contention for the riders’ title in MotoGP. Also featured was the V21L electric prototype, which set new records in the 2023 FIM Enel MotoE World Championship season, and the Panigale V2 Supersport, which celebrated its World Championship win with Nicolò Bulega.
In terms of new models, Ducati enthusiasts got a first look at the 2024 range, including the Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour and the V4 RS, designed for top-notch performance and seamless travel. Adventure riders were drawn to the DesertX, showcased in both standard and Rally versions, with the latter being an off-road focused machine born from Ducati’s success in the Erzbergrodeo with Antoine Meo.
A highlight was the unveiling of the Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 30 Anniversario 916, a limited edition model celebrating the 30th anniversary of the iconic 916. This model draws design inspiration from Carl Fogarty’s 1999 World Superbike Championship-winning 996. With only 500 units produced, it features a 1,103 cc V4 engine producing 212.5bhp, a suite of high-spec components, and a dedicated track kit.
Additionally, the DesertX Rally version was introduced as the most off-road oriented motorcycle Ducati has ever built. With a chassis revised for off-road capability, it features a new mono-shock with a larger piston and a 48 mm diameter Kayaba racing-derived fork. The suspension travel has been increased, and it uses Takasago Excel rims with central-spoked wheels, similar to professional bikes. The 937 cc V-twin engine of the DesertX Rally delivers 110 hp and 92 Nm of torque, and it’s set to hit dealerships in January 2024.
Overall, Ducati’s presence at EICMA 2023 was a testament to their legacy and forward-looking vision in the world of motorcycling, combining performance, design, and innovative technology.
