Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Electric Muscle Car eRupt Manual Transmission

Unlike typical battery electric vehicles, the Dodge brand’s eRupt multi-speed transmission with electro-mechanical shifting delivers distinctive shift points, throwing shoulders into seatbacks in true Dodge style. The Charger Daytona SRT Concept also boasts a PowerShot push-to-pass feature. Activated by the push of a button on the steering wheel, PowerShot delivers an adrenaline jolt of increased horsepower for a quick burst of acceleration.

The Jeep Wrangler Magneto 2.0 concept 4×4 is a traditional three-pedal manual with six speeds. Is this a preview of the Dodge Daytona SRT EV’s eRupt transmission?

We think this will not be the case. Instead it will possibly be similar to the Porsche Taycan’s two-speed transmission installed on the rear axle. First gear gives the Taycan even more acceleration from a standing start, while the long second gear ensures high efficiency and power reserves even at very high speeds.

The new electric Dodge Charger does have a grip shifter and Dodge claims this shifter is connected to a “multi-speed” transmission. The brand even specifies an “electro-mechanical shifting experience.”

Another possibility could be the electric motor could up power abruptly at certain points or when you push the grip shifter mimicking shifting feel.

All of these options are possible, but we will have to wait for more information as this Charger Daytona SRT Concept becomes closer to production.
