BMW Vision Neue Klasse Concept Unveiling at IAA

Presenting a fascinating glimpse into the forthcoming electric vehicle landscape, the BMW i Vision Dee concept pushed boundaries with its radical vision. Fast forward to the IAA Mobility 2023 event in Munich, and a captivating evolution emerges: the BMW Vision Neue Klasse concept. This new iteration doesn’t merely hint at the future – it embraces it with a multitude of cues and features destined for the production line.

While the core shape remains familiar, the Neue Klasse concept elevates the game with a substantial infusion of substance. The audacious “shark nose” hood, set at a dynamic slant, takes center stage, flanked by horizontal kidney grilles aglow with LED running lights. These luminous details, crafted using cutting-edge 3D printing techniques, add a touch of innovation to the ensemble.

The design narrative continues with an upturned black diffuser and newly designed 21-inch wheels, instilling a sportier persona compared to its predecessor, the i Vision Dee. Paying homage to the racing heritage of BMW, these wheels channel the spirit of classic cross-spoke designs. The rear end, echoing the captivating kidney-grille-and-headlight interplay of the front, showcases elongated taillights, while the minimalist logo etched onto the fenders represents a departure from conventional metal badges.

But it’s not just aesthetics that captivate; the Neue Klasse’s sleek profile also translates into tangible benefits. The “almost monolithic” design philosophy translates into a 30 percent surge in range and an impressive 25 percent boost in efficiency compared to existing EVs. This synergy of elegance and engineering is further amplified by BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive technology under the hood, ushering in a host of improvements including a 20 percent density increase, 25 percent efficiency gains, and a notable 30 percent reduction in charging times.

Inside the cabin, BMW’s newest iDrive interface takes center stage, projected onto a uniquely shaped parallelogram-like touchscreen. Established features like the Intelligent Personal Assistant retain their prominence, while the introduction of “Panoramic Vision” adds a layer of sophistication. This feature, set to debut in the production Neue Klasse, offers an expansive visual projection directly within the driver’s line of sight, coupled with intuitive gesture controls.

The interior of the Neue Klasse reflects a minimalist retro aesthetic, embodied by corduroy seats adorned in a vibrant mustard yellow. This theme extends to the dash and door panels, where yellow accents resonate. By eliminating superfluous adornments like chrome and leather, the cabin exudes simplicity while minimizing the carbon footprint during production. Anticipate the commencement of BMW Neue Klasse production in 2025 at the Debrecen facility, a facility embracing a future free from fossil fuels. The electric marvel is poised to grace the streets by 2026, with finer details such as pricing, range, and charging specifications poised to be unveiled closer to the grand production debut.
