2024 MINI John Cooper Works 1to6 Edition Manual Transmission

Enthusiasts of Mini, a subsidiary of BMW, are in for a treat as the automotive brand unveils yet another unique edition, while they continue to drop tantalizing hints about their forthcoming generation of vehicles. This latest creation, a distinctive variation of the three-door John Cooper Works, will be limited to a production of just 999 models. The peculiar “1to6” suffix finds its origin in the six-speed manual transmission that comes exclusively with this car.

This high-performance hatchback will make its debut to the public in the Nürburgring 24 Hours endurance race this weekend. Its striking midnight black bodywork, accentuated by a hood stripe, combines sophistication and sportiness. To add to the exclusivity of the JCW 1to6, it bears a “one of 999” inscription on the sunroof and the dashboard.

Upon entering the interior of the car, one will immediately notice the glossy stainless steel pedals. The special “1to6” emblems find their place on various elements of the car, including the floor mats, the side sills, and the C-pillars, resonating with the outside badging. The steering wheel and passenger dashboard also carry this special inscription. The overall black theme of the cabin is contrasted with splashes of red accents that mirror the same fiery hue on the brake calipers.

In terms of power, the John Cooper Works 1to6 maintains its consistency with the standard model. It houses a turbocharged 2.0-liter gasoline engine that delivers a substantial power of 231 horsepower and a torque of 236 pound-feet. With this impressive engine, the hatchback can hit 62 mph from a standstill in a brisk 6.3 seconds and can reach an impressive top speed of 153 mph.

This limited-edition Mini will be available in Europe, the United States, Canada, and Mexico starting in September. Interestingly, only 150 of the 999 units will be up for grabs in the UK, the brand’s homeland. This exclusivity comes with a hefty price tag; the starting price is a sizable £7,000 more than the regular John Cooper Works, putting the cost at a substantial £39,600.

In a final noteworthy twist, this model may mark the end of an era for manual transmissions in Mini vehicles. According to a British magazine, the automaker has quoted that they are “99 percent sure” of abandoning the production of cars with a clutch pedal.
