2024 Hyundai Sonata Revealed With AWD

Hyundai introduced the updated 2024 Sonata earlier this year, and now they’ve shared details about the version available in North America. Not surprisingly, there’s not much difference between the two versions, except for one important thing. People in North America can choose to have all-wheel drive.

This is the first time they’re offering all-wheel drive for the Sonata. It’s a system called HTRAC (Hyundai TRACtion), similar to what they use in their SUVs. It helps the car decide how much power to send to the front and rear wheels. This feature will be helpful in places where it gets really cold and the roads might be slippery. But, if you were hoping for a sportier version of the Sonata with all-wheel drive, or a hybrid option, you might be disappointed. Right now, the all-wheel drive is only available with a certain type of engine, the 2.5-liter four-cylinder one.

To refresh your memory, the 2024 Sonata got a big update. The front of the car looks different with new headlights, and the grille and vents on the sides match better. The back of the car also got a makeover with new taillights that make an “H” shape. Inside the car, the dashboard has been changed, and there are two screens – one for the driver and one for things like music and maps. They’re put together in a curved way. The driver can also see important information on a small screen above the dashboard. And if you’re a big fan of music, Hyundai improved the sound system, too. It now has 12 speakers and is made by Bose.

In North America, you can pick from three different engines for the 2024 Sonata. They’ve already talked about the 2.5-liter one that comes in the regular version. The sportier version called Sonata N Line has a stronger engine, a 2.5-liter turbocharged one. And then there’s the hybrid, which uses a 2.0-liter engine and an electric motor to help it save fuel. They haven’t said if these engines have changed or if they have more power now. But just so you know, the sporty N Line from 2023 had 290 horsepower, while the hybrid had 192 horsepower. The regular Sonata, the one that can now be bought with all-wheel drive, has 191 horsepower.

As for how much it costs, they haven’t given out the prices yet for the 2024 model. But in 2023, the starting price for the basic Sonata SE was $26,565. The Sonata Hybrid Blue started at $29,565, and the sporty 2023 N Line began at $35,940. These prices include a charge for bringing the car to you, which is around $1,115. It’s a good guess that the 2024 models will cost a little bit more, but we’ll have to wait to find out exactly how much.

They’re planning to announce the prices closer to when the 2024 Hyundai Sonata is going to be available for sale, which should be later this year.
