Ford is gearing up to unveil the latest iteration of its legendary car, the 2024 Mustang, next week. With a host of upgrades and advancements, this next-generation model promises to be a standout. However, it’s essential to note that not all these features will be standard across all versions; the available functions will vary depending on the chosen package.
One of the intriguing additions to the 2024 Mustang is the “Remote Rev” feature. This allows owners to remotely rev the engine using their key fob. However, there are certain conditions to be met for this function to operate. The engine must reach its optimal operating temperature, which might take around a minute or longer, depending on ambient temperatures. It’s important to understand that this feature won’t operate if engine oil, coolant, or the catalytic converter temperatures are not within the desired range. When activated, the system adjusts the active exhaust for a more pronounced engine sound.
Another crucial aspect covered in the manual is guidance related to driving through water. For EcoBoost and GT models, Ford recommends avoiding driving through water levels that rise above the Mustang’s front rocker. The Dark Horse variant has specific guidance due to its unique aerodynamic elements; it shouldn’t be driven in water that’s higher than the base of its rims. There’s a technical reason behind this: the possibility of water entering through the air intake due to engine vacuum. When it’s necessary to drive through higher water levels, it’s advised to keep speeds below 10 mph.
The manual highlights the importance of recognizing that not every Mustang model will have the same interior features. For instance, only Mustang models equipped with the Performance Package will come with the traditional parking brake handle, while others will have an electric parking brake switch.
Ford has already amassed around 13,000 pre-orders for the 2024 Mustang. Interestingly, a significant 67% of these are for the V8-powered GT model. The manual gearbox remains popular, with 27% of buyers opting for this transmission. As for the pricing, the Mustang EcoBoost starts at $32,515, the GT at $44,090, and the premium Dark Horse is priced at $60,850.
