Toyota’s GR badge has found its way onto more models than ever before, showcasing the automaker’s commitment to high-performance vehicles. However, not all models with the iconic logo are created equal, as Toyota has opted to introduce the less-potent GR Sport line across several of its offerings around the world. The latest vehicle to receive this treatment is the Agya, a city car that now boasts the GR Sport badge in Indonesia.
The Agya is offered with just one engine option, a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine that delivers 87 horsepower and 83 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired with either a five-speed manual gearbox or a continuously variable transmission equipped with paddle shifters. Despite no significant powertrain upgrades, Toyota has made significant adjustments to the suspension and steering setup of the Agya GR Sport.
Distinct from other model variants, the Agya GR Sport features unique exterior styling touches that set it apart from its peers. This includes a new upper grille color, a GR front bumper spoiler, 15-inch machined alloy wheels, and LED headlights. Toyota also offers the model with two two-tone paint options and four other color choices.
To further enhance the styling, the automaker added a GR aero kit to the Agya. The front of the hatchback boasts sportier faux intakes, while aero extensions adorn the bumpers and side sills.
Inside, the Agya offers an 8.0-inch infotainment screen with a backup camera and wireless charging capabilities. The cabin is also fitted with red stitching and GR branding throughout, including on the steering wheel and seats. This contrast against the all-black interior adds a touch of excitement to the overall design.
Unfortunately, the Agya is not available in the US market, and as such, the GR Sport variant will not be seen on American roads anytime soon. Nonetheless, the Agya GR Sport showcases Toyota’s commitment to offering high-performance vehicles across a broad spectrum of vehicle segments, further solidifying their reputation as a leader in the automotive industry.
