2023 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS With Manthey Kit Nurburgring Lap

Porsche has introduced an exciting enhancement for the 718 Cayman GT4 RS, known as the Manthey Kit, which is specifically designed to optimize performance on the racetrack.

This upgraded version of the GT4 RS, boasting an impressive power output of 368 kW (500 PS), recently completed a lap at the renowned Nordschleife circuit in the Nürburgring. The lap time of 7:03.121 minutes demonstrated its exceptional capabilities, outperforming the standard 718 Cayman GT4 RS by a remarkable 6.179 seconds.

The focus of the Manthey Kit lies in the improvement of aerodynamics and chassis components. Additionally, track-oriented brake pads are offered as an optional feature, catering to the demands of a high-performance braking system.

Collaborating closely with the experts at Manthey, Porsche Motorsport engineers developed this kit exclusively for track days. The road-legal components can be retrofitted and will be made available at Porsche Centres worldwide.

The Manthey Kit for the 718 Cayman GT4 RS can be easily recognized by its extensive modifications to the functional aero parts. The front of the car showcases flaps and new air curtains, accompanied by a wheel arch Gurney flap and a carbon underbody with diffusers, effectively enhancing front-end downforce. The wider rear wing, measuring 85 millimeters, incorporates a new wing blade and larger endplates, working together to increase downforce on the rear axle. The wing also offers four-stage adjustability. To ensure the rear engine cover can withstand higher aerodynamic forces, it is reinforced with a carbon-weave finish.

Notably, the aerodiscs on the rear wheels are constructed using CFRP (carbon fiber-reinforced polymer). These aerodiscs effectively minimize turbulence around the rear of the car, contributing to the overall aerodynamic package. Moreover, they can be customized with optional decorative films. When the rear wing is set to the Performance mode for track use at a speed of 200 km/h, the total downforce increases from 89 to 169 kilograms.

Porsche, in collaboration with Manthey, has also developed a special coilover suspension with an inverted setup for the 718 Cayman GT4 RS, allowing for track adaptability. The spring struts offer four different adjustment positions, while the rebound and compression stages can be fine-tuned without the need for additional tools. Additionally, the front suspension has witnessed a 20 percent increase in spring rates. The kit offers two versions of the chassis, catering to vehicles with and without a lift system on the front axle. Steel brake lines are also included as standard, ensuring precise pressure control and optimal braking performance. Furthermore, racing brake pads with consistent friction behavior across a wide temperature range can be optionally acquired. For a personalized touch, illuminated door sill guards featuring the Manthey logo are available. Towing loops, specially designed for track usage, can also be added optionally.

As an additional enhancement, the kit offers a specially designed CFRP rear spoiler attachment, which can be mounted onto the standard rear spoiler. This component, featuring a carbon-weave finish, further boosts rear axle downforce by approximately four percent. To accentuate the car’s performance visually, carbon-weave finished louvres (wheel arch vents) are available for the front wings, matching the aesthetic of the Weissach package.

To demonstrate the full potential of the 718 Cayman GT4 RS with the Manthey Kit, Porsche brand ambassador Jörg Bergmeister took to the Nürburgring Nordschleife, the revered benchmark for sports cars. Under overcast skies and at a temperature of 18 degrees Celsius, the modified GT sports car completed the 20.8-kilometer course in an impressive time of 7:03.121 minutes. This lap time outperformed the previous year’s series-production 718 Cayman GT4 RS by 6.179 seconds. Both cars utilized the optional Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires, and the recorded lap time was officially certified by an on-site notary.

The Manthey Kit is now available for purchase at Porsche Centres worldwide. The price may vary depending on the country and can be found in the accessory finder on the official Porsche website. The launch of the kit is planned for December 2023 in Europe, with other markets set to follow suit. Importantly, the manufacturer’s warranty for the 718 Cayman GT4 RS remains unaffected, providing peace of mind to enthusiasts.
