2023 Force Citiline Revealed As 10 Seat SUV

Introducing the innovative 2023 Citiline from Force Motors, an India-based automaker primarily known for their commercial vehicles. Despite its specialty in utilitarian transports, the company also delivers passenger-friendly options, such as the Trax Cruiser and Gurkha. This fresh iteration, the Citiline, is an intriguing new offering that cleverly reimagines the Trax Cruiser with a distinct fascia and forward-facing seats, rather than the 13-seat side-facing setup found in its predecessor.

Distinctively, the Citiline’s design showcases a boxy aesthetic, reminiscent of the iconic Mercedes G-Class, particularly when observing its side profile. Interestingly, the connection with the esteemed German manufacturer extends beneath the hood as well, where a Mercedes-derived four-cylinder, 2.6-liter diesel engine resides. With a powerful output of 90 horsepower at 3,200 rpm and 184 lb-ft (250 Nm) of torque from 1,400 rpm, it is paired to a five-speed manual transmission. Further similarities with the G-Class include the ladder-frame chassis construction.

Though one might be tempted to label the Citiline an SUV, it is more accurately characterized as a Multi-Utility Vehicle (MUV). This unique classification straddles the boundaries between a traditional SUV and a van. Its suspension system features a front double wishbone configuration, while the rear is equipped with a leaf spring arrangement, which also houses drum brakes.

Step inside the Citiline and you’ll be greeted with a remarkably spacious interior. Access to the third and fourth rows is simplified by the lift-up second-row seats, and roof-mounted vents ensure occupants remain comfortable in India’s sweltering heat. However, creature comforts are minimal, with amenities such as power windows, central locking, and a foldable fourth row for added cargo space. The absence of a radio and speakers is notable, but the vehicle does come equipped with ABS and EBD.

As for pricing, the 2023 Force Citiline starts at just over $19,000 when adjusted for current exchange rates. While the affordability may be astonishing, keep in mind that this no-frills vehicle is designed with basic functionality in mind. Nonetheless, it presents a compelling option for those seeking a versatile and cost-effective MUV.
