At the core of the new BMW R 18 Roctane lies the familiar 2-cylinder flat twin engine, affectionately referred to as the “big boxer.” Beyond its striking visual appeal, this powerhouse engine, adorned in Avus black metallic matt with glossy black covers, hearkens back to the traditional air-cooled boxer engines that have been synonymous with exhilarating riding experiences for over seven decades, tracing back to BMW Motorrad’s inception in 1923. As the most potent 2-cylinder boxer engine ever assembled for series production motorcycles, it boasts a voluminous engine capacity of 1,802 cc, churning out an impressive 91 horsepower at 4,750 rpm.
