The Rolls-Royce Ghost, while not as fancy as the Phantom, gets an occasional dose of excitement from Rolls-Royce. They call it the Ékleipsis Private Collection, a limited edition based on the sportier Black Badge version. It takes inspiration from a total solar eclipse and was unveiled just two days before a special eclipse visible in parts of the Western Hemisphere on October 14.

Rolls-Royce has given this luxurious sedan a unique Lyrical Copper paint with a sprinkle of powdered copper pigment. The color seems to change depending on how the light hits it, going from dark to bright. You’ll also spot some Mandarin accents on the brake calipers, below the grille, and a hand-painted coachline. This line breaks on the rear fenders, mimicking the transition from sunlight to darkness.

But the real deal with Rolls-Royce is what’s inside the car. The Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis boasts an animated Starlight Headliner with a whopping 940 stars forming a circle to mimic the corona of light around the lunar silhouette. They even added 192 more stars that light up to replicate the stars you can see during the day when there’s a total eclipse.

The Starlight Headliner stays animated for exactly 7 minutes and 31 seconds, just like a total solar eclipse’s maximum duration. After that, the stars return to their original state. Rolls-Royce says they spent a year and made three prototypes to perfect this starry design.

Now, there are 1,846 more stars etched on the illuminated passenger-side dashboard. A Rolls-Royce specialist spent over 100 hours positioning each star. Inside, those Mandarin accents continue with two-tone seats featuring over 200,000 individual perforations. And to top it off, there’s a special watch with a 0.5-carat diamond, which they had to try 14 times to get right.

It’s no surprise that all 25 units of the Ékleipsis Private Collection are already spoken for. Rolls-Royce continues to add a touch of luxury and uniqueness to its lineup.
