Subaru of America has recently announced the arrival of their latest addition to the Wilderness family at the New York International Auto Show. The 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness features a combination of Subaru’s popular Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and a modified drivetrain, complete with an elevated 9.3-inch ground clearance and exclusive body cladding. This powerful and rugged vehicle is sure to be the most capable Crosstrek model to date.
Aside from the impressive list of standard features, the Crosstrek Wilderness is equipped with a range of mechanical, design, and functional enhancements that allow for optimal performance on the road less travelled. In order to maintain the SUV’s superior capability and smooth handling, the rugged new model includes several exterior and interior details that make it a perfect fit for carrying outdoor gear, even in wet or muddy conditions.
Under the hood, the Crosstrek Wilderness boasts a 2.5-liter direct-injection SUBARU BOXER® engine that delivers 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque. In order to enhance off-road performance, Subaru has installed a revised differential gear ratio and retuned Lineartronic CVT. The new 4.111 final drive ratio (versus the previous 3.700) provides superior climbing ability while the new tuning for the CVT optimizes traction on slippery surfaces and at low speeds. Furthermore, the maximum towing capacity has more than doubled to 3,500 lb, thanks to the addition of a transmission oil cooler.
All 2024 Crosstrek models come equipped with Subaru’s award-winning EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology. This includes Pre-Collision Braking, Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control, Pre-Collision Throttle Management, Lane Departure and Sway Warning, and Lead Vehicle Start Alert. Additionally, Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert come standard on the new model.
The Crosstrek Wilderness also comes with Automatic Emergency Steering, which works alongside EyeSight and Blind-Spot Detection to assist with steering control to prevent a collision at speeds of less than 50 mph. Standard Reverse Automatic Braking adds an extra layer of safety while parking and in tight trail situations.
