New 2024 Porsche Panamera – All We Know So Far

The undeniable fact that Porsche has been generating a significant amount of revenue with the Taycan, which has even surpassed the automaker’s iconic 911 in terms of sales, cannot be disputed. Although the success of the electric sedan could have been a harbinger of doom for the Panamera, Porsche seems to be keeping the nameplate alive.

Notably, Porsche is already working on a new model, and spy photographers have captured test mules exhibiting major updates both on and off the track. While we have seen the next Panamera’s mules undergoing testing in public areas for over a year now, the changes are now closer and clearer.

The new Porsche Panamera mule we have seen is displaying modifications on the fuel cap, headlights, and door handles – features not commonly seen on facelifted models. Furthermore, the fact that the rear side window is concealed on this prototype suggests that this area will be altered as well. Meanwhile, the slimmer taillights, front fenders, and rear hatch all provide indications of an impending update.

Given this slew of updates, it appears that we are not dealing with a facelifted Panamera anymore; instead, a full-scale revamp of the new generation is likely underway. This is especially true based on the recent interior spy shots we have seen.

The new Panamera’s cabin was seen adopting design cues from the Taycan, which is not entirely surprising. Notably, there is no gear lever for the automatic transmission, and the controls and entire layout are modeled after the hot-selling electric sedan.

Regarding the powertrain, Porsche will reportedly offer the next Panamera with updated and more powerful gasoline engines with mild-hybrid technology. For those who are not quite prepared for full electrification, a plug-in hybrid version will be available, which is expected to feature bigger batteries and a better pure electric range.

There is no set timeline for the release of the next Panamera. However, considering the extensive testing period that Porsche typically takes on new models, it is reasonable to expect the new Panamera sometime in 2023.
