The Kia Rio, a subcompact car, may not be available in Europe and Australia due to the absence of right-hand drive versions. The launch of the new Rio in the United States is also uncertain at this time. However, kolesa has provided some insight into what the new Rio might look like through a recent spied testing session in northern Sweden.
The 2024 Kia Rio prototype spotted testing in Sweden has been given a heavy disguise that makes it difficult to identify some of the new features. However, it is evident that the next generation of the Rio will sport some key updates inspired by larger models within the brand’s family. For instance, the rear quarter windows appear to have been influenced by the EV6, while some cues are believed to be similar to those of the new Sonata.
The new Rio will feature a completely new lighting signature, including LED DRLs integrated into the main clusters and a new grille. Although it is impossible to discern some of the bumper’s traits, it should have a wide central air intake, albeit of smaller proportions compared to its predecessor. The roofline will be slightly arched towards the rear and feature a shark-fin antenna. The back will showcase a new lighting signature, bumper, diffuser, and double exhaust tips on the right-hand side, indicating a sportier variant. The model will have four lug nuts, similar to the current one.
A closer look at certain images reveals the top part of the new dashboard panel, which seems to host dual screens with a tablet-like design. Kia’s all-new Rio Sedan is expected to feature new everything, from the steering wheel, seats, door cards, center console, and buttons, to the enhanced technology and safety gear. While the exact date of the grand unveiling remains unclear, it is believed to be a few months away and might be shown towards the end of the year or in early 2024.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding the Rio’s launch in various parts of the world, Kia’s new offering is highly anticipated due to the brand’s reputation for producing reliable and high-quality vehicles. With a completely new design and advanced features, the Rio is expected to be a game-changer in the subcompact car market.
