The year 1986 saw the car take on its first test, and now, it’s facing another. The Porsche Classic team has meticulously disassembled, overhauled, and reassembled the engine, gearbox, and drivetrain to bring this project to life.
To the team’s delight, they discovered that all the parts were in near-perfect condition, with little to no damage, and no signs of major defects or corrosion. They treated each component with the utmost care and consideration, carefully examining it for any potential repair needs.
In the spirit of preserving as much of the car’s original substance as possible, the team made only the necessary partial repairs, taking into account the fact that many of the parts had near-series production prototype status. It’s this devotion to preserving the Porsche 959 Paris-Dakar’s legacy that sets it apart from other restorations and underscores its importance in automotive history.
