A singular, unparalleled Porsche Classic project, crafted in unison with the Porsche Club of America, has emerged as a highlight of automotive creativity, incorporating a 996 generation 911 Carrera that has been amplified through the agency of Porsche’s exclusive Sonderwunsch program. As an enthralling prospect, a single fortuitous individual will soon have the opportunity to acquire it, thanks to an upcoming Broad Arrow Auctions sale. The unprecedented alterations made to this sports car elevate both its aesthetic and practical performance, having been inspired by the 2010 911 Sport Classic, a limited-edition model that was not made available for purchase within the confines of the United States. Its finalization occurred at the esteemed Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen, with the Classic Club Coupe replete with the entire drivetrain of a 2004 to 2005 996.2-generation 911 GT3, encompassing a water-cooled flat-six engine capable of outputting 381 horsepower, coupled with a six-speed manual transmission, with the ability to rev up to 8,000 rpm. Additionally, the Classic Club Coupe’s chassis and brakes were also derived from the 911 GT3.
Notably, the design was masterminded by Porsche’s Director of Special Projects, Grant Larson, who is renowned for his designs of the 986 Boxster and Carrera GT. A distinct ducktail spoiler has been incorporated, evoking the iconic 1972 911 Carrera RS 2.7, while a double-bubble roof pays homage to the longstanding motorsports tradition of creating space for the driver’s helmet. The Sport Grey Metallic paint, both exclusive and understated, was chosen to embellish the vehicle’s exterior, complemented by the painted racing stripes, which are light Sport Grey Metallic, with thin Club Blau accent stripes. In 2022, the Classic Club Coupe toured North America, making appearances at both Porsche Parade and PCA events throughout the year.
