An inconspicuously disguised prototype of the Porsche Taycan’s updated version has been recently spotted undergoing cold-weather testing. At first glance, it may seem that nothing has been modified. However, upon closer inspection, it becomes apparent that the front bumper has been shrouded in a body-colored cloak to mask the air intakes concealed beneath the headlights on the current Taycan. Conceivably, the black tape used to obscure the bumper could be concealing potential alterations, which may extend to the center. Although the headlights appear nearly identical, this may change in the final production model since Porsche is likely testing an early version of the facelifted Taycan.
Meanwhile, looking towards the rear, we notice the conspicuous absence of the “Porsche” and “Taycan” badges. It’s difficult to discern whether the taillights have undergone any modifications, but it is customary to see changes in this area during mid-cycle updates. For the moment, the rear bumper appears unaltered, but future prototypes may feature a different appearance.
The exposed cabin and minor exterior tweaks suggest that the prototype was utilized to test alterations to the powertrain. Speaking of which, the updated Taycan is expected to introduce a high-performance version, which is predicted to achieve the 1,000-horsepower mark from three electric motors. However, nothing is confirmed as of yet. In a recent sighting, a TDI badge was featured on an aggressive-looking prototype, but this was evidently added for amusement purposes.
Notably, Porsche has already produced over 100,000 Taycans, taking into account the Cross and Sport Turismo wagons. With 34,801 units sold in 2022, it surpassed the Panamera in sales.
The updated Taycan is anticipated to debut in the forthcoming months and will be available for purchase in the United States for the 2024 model year.
