New 2024 Mercedes AMG GT Spied Possibly S E Performance First Edition

The forthcoming AMG GT from Mercedes-Benz has been the topic of much discussion among car enthusiasts, as the automaker has not been shy about parading prototypes of the model around in public. However, the latest sighting of the vehicle is a bit different from previous ones.

The prototype in question sports a striking gray color that is reminiscent of the automaker’s Manufaktur selection, although it is not clear if it is the same shade. Furthermore, the camouflage on the sides of the vehicle has been removed.

Up front, the vehicle’s lower fascia is particularly intriguing, as it features vertical gills on the corners that serve as brackets for the large Panamericana grille and complex lower grille. The design is indicative of a high-performance vehicle, likely an S E Performance First Edition model, as suggested by sources. The vehicle is also equipped with black wheels and mammoth brakes.

If the aforementioned model is indeed the S E Performance First Edition, it will be powered by a plug-in hybrid powertrain that debuted in August 2021 on the four-door Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance. This powertrain pairs a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine with an electric motor, delivering a combined output of 831 horsepower and over 1,000 pound-feet of torque. The presence of a charging port on the rear bumper of the AMG GT indicates that it may have a similar setup.

Mercedes-Benz has a history of offering its AMG GT in various trim levels, and the upcoming model will be no different. While the official debut date for the AMG GT has yet to be announced, we can expect it to be released as a 2024 model-year vehicle.
