New 2023 BMW M2 Zandvoort Blue Exhaust Sound

BMW’s 2023 M2 model is an impressive vehicle, boasting a powerful BMW S58 twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine that delivers an astounding 453 horsepower and 406 pound-ft of torque. This is the same engine found in M3s and M4s, albeit with a slightly reduced horsepower output. Nonetheless, the torque output remains the same.

The M2 is only available in rear-wheel drive, and buyers can select from a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission. According to BMW, the powertrain can launch the M2 from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 3.9 seconds with the eight-speed automatic, while the standard six-speed manual will take a slightly slower 4.1 seconds to reach the same speed. However, these figures could be underestimated, as the previous-generation M2 Competition with only 405 horsepower managed a 3.9-second 60-mph time during our test.

Furthermore, the M2 has been optimized for track performance, including a specially tuned suspension and other chassis enhancements that enable it to become the quickest version of the 2-series to circle a racetrack. Recently, we were given the opportunity to test drive a prototype M2 on a racetrack in Austria. Unfortunately, our experience was cut short by a heavy rainfall. When we get the chance to test the new model, we’ll update this story with driving impressions and test results.
