IED presents the new concept vehicle designed in collaboration with Suzuki, to combine the two different souls of the Japanese manufacturer in a single model.
On the one hand the four wheels, the functionality, the efficiency, the practicality of compact dimensions; on the other, two wheels, synonymous with sporting spirit, high performance and emotions.
For over a century, Suzuki has embodied these two opposing souls with the production of cars and motorcycles, but is it possible to combine these two worlds in one vehicle?
The European Institute of Design presents Suzuki Misano , the new concept vehicle designed in collaboration with Suzuki . Result of the thesis project of the twenty-four students of the Master in Transportation Design of IED Turin , Misano is the answer to the Japanese manufacturer’s question: a style model capable of intertwining the philosophy of Japanese automotive design with a design that embodies pure passion, style and fun, as in the best Italian tradition.
Suzuki asked the young designers to work on the La Dolce Vita X Way of Life brief , focusing the research on a double track; the deepening of the values embodied by the Suzuki brand payoff and, at the same time, the suggestions evoked by the title of Fellini’s masterpiece, which has become the universal expression of a life of pleasure and elegance. Thanks to an intense planning started last autumn, which involved all the students in a creative process that follows the dynamics of a style center, a concept has been developedwhich honors the authenticity of tradition and the application of cutting-edge technology oriented towards compact and functional vehicles and, at the same time, transmits that desire for emotions embodied by the protagonists of the film, darting on sporty and elegant convertibles. With a name that pays homage to Suzuki’s commitment in the most selective motorcycle competitions and the victories won on the Italian circuit, Misano is designed to bring a young and passionate public of two wheels closer to the Suzuki automotive world, offering a driving experience that combines lifestyle and sportsmanship.
Suzuki Misano(length 4000 mm – width 1750 mm – height 1000 mm – wheelbase 2600 mm – wheelbase 1500 mm) is a sporty and compact vehicle, which reinterprets the classic typology of the barchetta in an experimental tandem on four wheels. Aimed at seeking elegance and purity, the lines of the exteriors draw clean surfaces that softly envelop the exposed passenger compartment. The absence of a hood reveals the driver and passenger positions which, off-center, leave the right portion free, allowing the insertion of the battery pack and a trunk in a lateral position. The sporty inspiration is found not only in the gritty design of the front, in which the darting lines of the lights increase the recognisability of the car,trapezoidal meshes , but especially in the driving experience. Protected exclusively by a small windshield that resembles a fairing, the driver controls the car not with a steering wheel, but with a clearly motorcycling-inspired joystick.
