Drawing inspiration from the rich heritage of Jeep and peering into its future trajectory, the Jeep Willys Dispatcher emerges as a concept car that is a modern interpretation of the early civilian Jeeps post-World War II. These initial models were known for their simple, functional design, a trait that the Willys Dispatcher embraces, but with a twist—it’s equipped with today’s electric off-roading capabilities courtesy of the sophisticated 4xe propulsion system.
Starting with its appearance, the Willys Dispatcher concept undergoes a transformation that tips its hat to the past. It sports Super Traxion 36-inch tires that sit snugly on vintage-look 16-by-7-inch alloy wheels designed to mimic classic steel wheels. At the front, there’s a custom bumper that incorporates a modern yet traditionally styled 8274 Warn winch, complete with a contemporary version of the Warn Epic Series hook and D rings. Echoing the iconic flat-fender Jeeps of old, the Willys Dispatcher features prominently embossed WILLYS branding on the hood’s sides. The windshield header boasts a sleek gloss black finish, contrasting with the body’s custom Element 115 Green paint, which is elegantly offset by the cream-colored wheels.
The interior of the Dispatcher has been thoughtfully redesigned, blending distressed saddle leather with houndstooth cloth inserts for a uniquely vintage yet comfortable ambiance. The original high-back seats have been replaced with custom versions that replicate the low-back style prevalent in earlier times, enhancing the vehicle’s retro feel. A Jeep Performance Parts (JPP) bikini top is installed to offer passengers protection against the elements, whether it’s raining or sunny. For durability and ease of cleaning, the floor is covered with a robust JPP vinyl, and there’s also a JPP onboard air compressor, a useful tool for adjusting tire pressure while navigating challenging trails.
Under the hood, the Willys Dispatcher doesn’t shy away from modern innovation. It’s powered by the acclaimed 2.0-liter plug-in hybrid 4xe propulsion system, boasting an impressive output of 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque, managed by an eight-speed automatic transmission. The power and torque are efficiently distributed to the wheels via Dana 50 Advantech front and rear axles equipped with 4.70 gears, ensuring the Super Traxion tires receive all the might they need to conquer any terrain.
