Jeep Low Down Concept at Easter Jeep Safari 2024

About fifteen years ago, the team behind Jeep’s designs made a big splash at the 43rd Easter Jeep Safari. They introduced a special version of the Jeep Wrangler named the Lower 40. This vehicle stood out because, even though it kept its original height, it could fit huge 40-inch tires designed for muddy terrain. Under its hood, it boasted a powerful 5.7-liter V-8 engine. This model quickly became a hit, capturing the hearts of many and securing its spot as a top favorite among all the Easter Jeep Safari concepts to this day.

Fast forward to now, Jeep has introduced a new concept vehicle that tips its hat to the famed Lower 40. This latest concept, called the Low Down, also features a Jeep Wrangler modified in unique ways. By adjusting the space around the wheels, the Low Down can fit even larger 42-inch mud-terrain tires by BFGoodrich, on 20-inch wheels that lock onto the rim. It keeps the suspension system from the top-tier Wrangler Rubicon 392 but upgrades to stronger Dana 60 axles with gears suited for more torque, compared to the original Dana 44 axles. Thanks to these changes, plus making the front and rear bumpers shorter, the Low Down manages to keep a low center of gravity but increases its ability to overcome obstacles and tackle steep inclines with ease.

The Low Down doesn’t just shine in terms of its under-the-hood capabilities. Its body comes in a striking Poison Apple Red and includes several custom features: rear door handles have been removed, it sports a custom carbon hood with a unique see-through section, and even has a special fuel door placed on the side. Inside, the Jeep is just as customized with black leather seats that have cloth in the middle, floors covered in a protective lining, and a dashboard simplified by removing the radio. A specially made bikini top for the roof bathes the interior in a red light, adding to the vehicle’s unique atmosphere.

Following in the footsteps of the Lower 40, the Low Down is powered by a V-8 engine. However, this time it’s upgraded to a 6.4-liter 392 V-8 engine, which provides an impressive 475 horsepower and is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This combination ensures that the Low Down is not only a nod to its predecessor’s legacy but also a step forward in power and performance.
