The Chevrolet Corvette, an American classic sports car, is set to receive a new addition in 2024 with the launch of the E-Ray. This new model will be the first-ever electric version of the iconic car. The E-Ray boasts a powerful combination of an electric motor and a 6.2-liter V8 engine, resulting in a total output of 665 horsepower. Chevrolet claims that the E-Ray can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds, making it the quickest production Corvette ever, and it can complete a quarter-mile run in 10.5 seconds at a speed of 130 mph.
A 1.9-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery powers the electric motor on the front axle, providing 160 horsepower and 125 pound-feet of torque. The combustion engine component of the powertrain is the well-known LT2 6.2-liter V8 from the Stingray, producing 495 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. The E-Ray represents a significant step forward for Chevrolet in their efforts to innovate and push the boundaries of electric vehicle technology.
