Astronaut Patrick Baudry Test Drives The Bugatti Chiron

Space and the racetrack – two worlds that could not be more different. At least that is how it seems at first glance. However, in a conversation, Patrick Baudry and Pierre-Henri Raphanel discover what they have in common… A video about incredible speeds, extreme conditions and true passion.

Patrick Baudry already dreamed of becoming a pilot at the age of 4. In 1970, this dream came true: he became a fighter pilot in the French Air Force and only ten years later an astronaut candidate for the French space agency CNES. In 1985, he was on board the Discovery (Mission STS-51-G) on its way into space.

Pierre-Henri Raphanel also knew from a very young age that he would one day become a race driver. Between 1986 and 2000 he participated 14 times in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, in 1985 he won the French Formula 3 Championship and four years later qualified for the Grand Prix of Monaco. In 2010, he broke the world speed record for Bugatti in the Veyron 16.4 Super Sport (268 mph (431.072 km/h)), becoming the fastest series-production sports car in the world.
