Last year, Aptera completed the Alpha phase of development of our solar electric vehicle, which served to validate their basic design and engineering. Since then Aptera progressed through the Beta phase of development, making some impressive advancements in the front and rear suspension, drivetrain, and ergonomics of our solar electric vehicles.
Now for the drag race. As you check out the short drag race video, it’s important to note, Aptera doesn’t provide any details about the Model 3 or the Audi R8. Depending on the specific model year and trim of these rivals, performance specs vary. The Model 3 isn’t the latest version, so it could easily be an older Standard Range, though it could also be a dual-motor version.
Aptera has Four Phases of Development. Here are the four phases in order.
Alpha – Early prototypes to validate our basic design and engineering
Beta – Test mules used to integrate production parts and evaluate dynamic and transient vehicle behavior
Gamma – Production-intent vehicles used to iron out final production details
Delta – Production vehicles for customer deliveries
Furthermore, Aptera gained critical insights on the centering behavior of the vehicle’s steering system, stability during emergency braking situations, and the effects of overdamped versus underdamped systems to ride quality and maneuverability. This information will be useful as Aptera development continues into later phases.
The company is thrilled with our results, which validated the improvements their team has been working on since their Alpha phase completed and indicated that they are right on track to meet their production goals of the most efficient solar transportation on the planet.
