979HP PEUGEOT 9X8 All Wheel Drive

The 2.6-liter twin-turbo V6 engine 707 hp driving the rear axle and the 272 hp (979HP Total) electric system on the front axle were developed by the PEUGEOT SPORT department in Satory France, under the responsibility of the technical director Olivier JANSONNIE and the Powertrain Manager François COUDRAIN.

PEUGEOT 9X8, a 4-wheel drive hybrid hypercar, will make its racing debut at the 6 Hours of Monza on 10 July. Although it hasn’t officially raced yet, the car has already made a valuable contribution to the brand’s hybridization research. For example, the PEUGEOT 508 PSE – developed by the same team of engineers in parallel with the 9X8 – is equipped with a hybrid system with a total output of 265 kW / 360 hp and an intelligent management system derived directly from the Hypercar program.

The dialogue between the technical experts of PEUGEOT SPORT and their colleagues in charge of creating the future road cars of the brand does not stop there because the technologies derived from 9X8 are already being transferred to other PEUGEOT models, especially in the crucial sector of electrification.
