The Porsche 911 Dakar was introduced at the 2022 Los Angeles Auto Show, paying tribute to the company’s off-road racing heritage. The highlight of this rally-themed 911 is the two-tone exterior finish inspired by the classic Rothmans livery, which is a part of the Rallye Design Package. This package comes with a hefty price tag of $28,470, in addition to the $223,450 base price of the 911 Dakar.

The two-tone exterior finish is a complex process that takes around 34 hours to complete. The process starts with a white 911 body that is covered in clear coat and sanded. Then, a layer of Gentian Blue Metallic paint is applied manually and followed by two additional clear coat layers. After the body is assembled, it is sent to Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur for the foiling process, which requires partial disassembly and adds 8.5 hours to the completion time. Finally, the completed 911 Dakar undergoes a final inspection and is covered for transportation to the dealer.

The Rallye Design Package also includes black seats with Shark Blue seat belts and Ceramica trim. However, the majority of the cost is attributed to the intricate paint job. In addition to the classic look, the 911 Dakar also features a retuned suspension with a two-inch lift, which can increase to over three inches with the electronic lift system activated. The car rides on Pirelli Scorpion all-terrain tires made specifically for the 911 Dakar and is powered by the same 473-horsepower twin-turbocharged flat-six engine used in the 911 GTS.
