2024 Lexus LM Luxury Minivan Interior Is The Ultimate Living Room On Wheels

Unquestionably, the Lexus LM has captured the spotlight at Auto Shanghai 2023. Advancing into its second generation, this luxurious minivan breaks free from its Chinese-only market and is slated to be promoted in over 60 countries worldwide under Toyota’s premium marque. While Europe and Japan are set to welcome this sophisticated transporter with open arms, the United States will be excluded from enjoying the updated model.

The 2024 LM unveils a completely reimagined, imposing body-colored front grille, and the rear logo has been swapped with striking “LEXUS” typography. In spite of the vehicle’s enlarged dimensions – 201.7 inches in length, 74.4 inches in width, and 77 inches in height – its 19-inch wheels may appear rather modest. The latest incarnation surpasses its antecedent, extending 3.1 inches, widening 1.5 inches, and elevating 0.4 inches, all the while retaining its 118.1-inch wheelbase.

This bona fide minivan is equipped with sliding doors and a capacious interior, accommodating three-row arrangements with options for six or seven seats. A deluxe two-row edition, outfitted with only four seats, is designed to function as a chauffeur-driven MPV. An eye-catching 48-inch monitor, positioned ahead of the detached rear seats in the two-row model, takes center stage. Lexus underscores that this display is not merely for entertainment purposes but also enables virtual conferencing.

Nestled in the rear compartment are a refrigerator, storage units, and privacy glass featuring two-stage dimming. Occupants can set the mood with a 64-color ambient lighting system, replete with 14 pre-programmed themes and 50 customizable tints. A retractable, leather-clad table lies inconspicuously within the armrest, awaiting use.

A cutting-edge element is the infrared sensor affixed to the central portion of the partition. This sensor measures the temperature of rear passengers’ faces, torsos, thighs, and shins, while concurrently assessing the temperature of windows, trim, and ceiling sections influenced by external factors. Data procured by the sensor triggers automatic adjustments to the air conditioning, optimizing passenger comfort.

Lexus has remained somewhat guarded concerning specific powertrain particulars. However, the 2024 LM is set to offer a turbocharged 2.4-liter hybrid powertrain and a 2.5-liter hybrid variant. The minivan showcased in Shanghai dons 225/R19 tires, while the international edition will be equipped with smaller 17-inch wheels and 225/65 R17 tires. Torsional rigidity has witnessed a 50 percent enhancement compared to the pioneer model, and an adaptive suspension system incorporates a frequency-sensitive piston valve in the shock absorber to mitigate road irregularities.
