2024 Hyundai Sonata New Details Released

In the wake of its online debut earlier this week, the 2024 Hyundai Sonata is now ready to make its grand entrance at the Seoul Motor Show. In addition to showcasing fresh new images of the vehicle, the South Korean brand is also dishing out more juicy details about the upcoming midsize sedan’s daringly revamped design. This includes its power source, which will come in three flavors: a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter, a turbocharged 2.5-liter specifically for the N Line, and a 2.0-liter hybrid.

Interestingly, although an AWD-labeled prototype has been spotted recently, Hyundai has not mentioned anything about all-wheel drive being an available option for the 2024 Sonata. This seems rather odd, considering that the Kia K5, which shares the same engine, has been using AWD for some time now. Additionally, there is a notable lack of technical specs provided regarding these three powertrains.

The Sonata’s exterior redesign promises to bring a “sensational styling” according to the automaker. Alongside this comes lower noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) levels, which have been made possible through the use of body reinforcements and a different material for the steering wheel. Furthermore, the Sonata has also undergone skin-deep changes, such as a new crash energy distribution structure that should improve side collision protection in the event of an accident.

The car’s interior is equally impressive, boasting a swanky curved display that features a pair of 12.3-inch screens, complemented by a 12-inch head-up display. The vehicle’s software will be improved via over-the-air updates, while the 12-speaker sound system has been tweaked by Bose to provide an even better audio experience. However, it’s worth noting that there is no support for a digital key via smartphone or smartwatch.

One exciting feature that has been highlighted by Hyundai is the ability to park the 2024 Sonata remotely using a smartphone to control the vehicle from the outside. Additionally, the car can exit a parking spot by remotely reversing and forwarding. Other bells and whistles include an electrically operated trunk lid, Rear Occupant Alert, and a variety of safety and assistance systems ranging from front and rear collision avoidance alerts to adaptive cruise control with stop & go functionality.

Following its debut at the 2023 Seoul Motor Show, the extensively updated Hyundai Sonata will be available globally later this year.
