2023 Kia Telluride X-Pro Off-road Experience

Beneath the hood of every Telluride, lies a naturally aspirated V-6 engine that bequeaths 291 horses of power and 262 pound-feet of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission, which channels the engine’s energy to the front wheels, is featured as the default configuration, whereas all-wheel drive is also an option that is ubiquitously available across the board. When we road-tested the Telluride X-Line, we were taken aback by its remarkable acceleration, reaching 60 mph in a mere 6.8 seconds. However, at lower speeds, the big Kia did not appear to be as receptive to throttle inputs when compared to some of its turbocharged counterparts. Regrettably, the Telluride’s ride is on the firm side, with harsh pavement causing the three-row SUV to deviate from its intended trajectory. Fortunately, the availability of a self-leveling rear air suspension adds a further layer of sophistication. In terms of the Telluride’s braking system, it is truly remarkable and the steering is characterized by a well-defined, precise touch, which has a pleasant heft to it. The Telluride boasts a ground clearance of up to 8.4 inches, thereby enabling it to venture off-road with ease. Additionally, it is capable of towing a maximum weight of 5500 pounds, which is quite impressive indeed.
