2023 Honda Civic Type R Rendered

The most powerful version of the Civic is next in line, which will receive the traditional name Type-R. Previously, test vehicles in camouflage where shown revealing some of the shape, and late last year, the Japanese company distributed photos of the future car all in the same disguise.

First of all, the hatchback will receive noticeably widened wheel arches both front and rear. A new bumper with a large air intake will appear in front, and vertical air ducts or decorative inserts will be located along the edges. The radiator grille will become slightly larger and will receive a honeycomb finish. The car will become wider, and in their lower part there will be contrasting full-length overlays. The rear bumper is also new, with a diffuser and center triple exhaust. The image is complemented by a massive rear wing on the trunk lid and new wheels.

It is expected that the hot hatch will receive a gasoline 2-liter turbo engine in combination with front-wheel drive and a 6-speed manual. The characteristics of the motor are not yet known, but the Type-R can get a little more power compared to its predecessor, which develops 320 hp and 400 Nm of torque in the European version. Previously, it was believed that the new Type-R will receive a hybrid powertrain, so the option is not ruled out that there will be two types of powertrain – “traditional” and with an additional electric motor.

The premiere of new Type-R is expected sometime this year.
